After the victory of the Vogue Cinema, let’s save another beloved Possilpark landmark.
Following the success of the campaign to save the historic Vogue Cinema, I’m turning my attention to another important building in Possilpark that's just up the road from the Vogue and that’s been left to rot: the old Possil Railway Station.
Although it’s already a Category C listed building, it’s been completely neglected for years. The roof has caved in, the site is unsecured, and if something isn’t done soon, we risk it becoming unsafe and permanently lost. I’m deeply worried that the authorities will eventually claim it’s “too far gone” and move to demolish it... just like they tried with the Vogue.
By signing this petition, you’ll be helping put pressure on Glasgow City Council to take urgent action, but I’m also hoping this will catch the attention of local councillors, heritage organisations, railway enthusiasts, and maybe even someone with the vision and funding to restore it for community use.
A café/museum would bring life back to this overlooked part of our industrial heritage.
Let’s make some noise again. Possil deserves better!
