We are pleased to announce that a proposal to Parks Canada has been prepared and is expected to be submitted for review by mid-June 2025.
The proposal aims to form a partnership between Parks Canada and the Ochre River Mountaineers for trail stewardship and revitalization.
Ochre River Mountaineers is a Metis-led volunteer grassroots organization that exists to preserve the health and history of the Ochre River Trail.
After hundreds of hours of research, there has been a massive recollection of historical significance found within the entire corridor of the Ochre River Valley, so we steward to tell its full story.
Revitalization of the trail will carve the path of reconciliation in the area as we focus on cultural education, low-impact recreation, regional eco-tourism, enhanced visitor experience and safety, as well as community engagement.
