I have just learned that, because there is a hearing tomorrow morning, we urgently need your help today.

We kindly ask that you please submit a letter of support as soon as possible, as emailed letters are very important in this process. The hearing is scheduled for tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.

I apologize for the very short notice. I only just found out how critical it is that these letters be submitted immediately. I know we have asked for your support many times, and we are deeply grateful, but this is part of the process and every letter can make a real difference.

Thank you for standing with us in the effort to protect the Marian Shrine of Gratitude and this sacred heritage property.

Attention city clerk:

To the City of Toronto,

I am writing to respectfully urge the City of Toronto to reject the proposed development by Avrance corporation of stack housing at 3100 Weston Road, including the heritage property containing the Carmine Stefano Community Centre (formerly St. Basil-the-Great College School), the chapel, and surrounding sacred grounds.

This property has been used by thousands of people for cultural, spiritual, educational, and community purposes for many decades. It is a cherished gathering place that would be seriously compromised by the proposed development.

The scale and nature of the proposed structure are not conducive to the wellbeing of this community or this heritage property. Increased traffic congestion, obstruction of views of the historic property, reduced access to the grounds, and interference with community use of the land would significantly harm this special site.

The development would also impede access to the rear ravine area, which has been enjoyed by thousands in the community over the years.

For these reasons, I respectfully ask the City to reject this proposal and preserve this important heritage and community property.
