On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, the Union County Commissioners posted on their Facebook page that they have closed their poll to vote for a new Union County seal and are postponing their decision to replace the existing seal.

We applaud the Commissioners for pausing to re-evaluate their decision to change the seal. However, we cannot claim victory on the issue. (See the wording of their post below.) Please continue to share the petition. Thank you for your ongoing support to preserve Union County's history and Hannah's memory.

We would also like to thank everyone who attended the candlelight vigil for Hannah Caldwell on Wednesday. A huge and heartfelt thank you to Senator Cryan and Mayor Bollwage not only for attending but also for their support of our efforts.

Below is a copy of the County's post on Facebook dated April 25:

Yesterday, the poll to vote for a new County seal officially closed with a total of over 6,600 votes from Union County residents. At this time, the Union County Board of County Commissioners are also taking into consideration the individuals who have emailed, called or attended the Commissioner meetings on both sides of the topic. For the moment, we have decided to postpone changing the seal until we have further discussions on all of the feedback received.

We would like to thank all of those who took the time to participate in the poll, including the thousands of students who voted with their classrooms. Thank you.
