For the 4th of July, we propose The Loophole Law to our Elected Officials.

On this the day before the 4th of July, we as a family are proposing to our Elected Officials the Loophole Law. We are not only fighting to protect our mom but all of us who could be victimized by the deceptive and fraudulent mortgage practices of the banking industry. Predatory lending can happen to anybody’s elderly mother, father, aunt, uncle, family member or friend. We are asking our Government Officials to take action immediately to prevent any further damages against the future of our senior population. We need your help, we are 5,500 signatures shy of 100,000 which would allow us to bring this petition directly to the White House. The Loophole Law: Banks have created loopholes in order to pass through predatory loans upon senior citizens. Therefore, loopholes must be created to protect seniors and those who suffer from Alzheimer’s Dementia from predatory lending. An Alzheimer’s diagnosis can take 10-15 years to detect and diagnose. While that gap is slowly narrowing, we now know that many individuals stricken with this debilitating disease have already wreaked financial havoc upon themselves, unaware of potentially grave consequences. The Loophole Law is designed to protect: 1. Senior citizens 65 years and older who are living on a fixed income. 2. People who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. The law proposes that senior citizens 65 years and older who are living on a fixed income should not be allowed to sign for home mortgages that would jeopardize their primary residence without being referred to a volunteer attorney for advice and guidance.  Individuals who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia should be granted an extension of the statute of limitations for predatory lending to 10-15 years before the date of their diagnosis.
