I hope this finds you well. As we’ve noted for over a year, the Afghan Special Immigrant Visa program suffers from a substantial backlog of applicants. As of two days ago, we believed the backlog continued to stand at 35,000 people. Then we read the latest report from the State Department. In the last three months, 3,289 Afghans have submitted new applications for visas. The State Department is now accepting new applications at nearly the same rate its handing out visas - i.e. the backlog isn't getting smaller, if anything, its growing. We need your help now more than ever. Every single one of these people will need housing, furnishings, transportation, a job, and community support. We want to ensure they are properly taken care of in a manner commensurate with their heroic service to our country. Can you chip in with $50 today? With each $50 contribution, we can ensure a family has a full set of kitchen supplies. -Cheers, Matt
