Happy New Year!
I hope this finds you well! In the coming weeks, we will release our 2015 Annual Report, detailing our operations for the previous year, our growth, and most importantly, the impact of your support. Until then, here's a sneak preview...
Last year, thanks to your contribution, we raised over $475,000 and distributed over $500,000 in donated furnishings and household goods. We provided over $75,000 in rental aid to 47 families and $85,000 in employment aid by purchasing 21 cars for 21 families. Each of those families continues to be employed thanks to the use of that automobile. We expanded our operations from three cities to eight.
Your support also enabled us to professionalize our operations, directly leading to our exponential growth this year. As CEO I welcomed Mica, our full time Director of Resettlement, who has developed our services as we’ve taken on greater responsibilities. Additionally, we’ve counted on the full time support of Jason, our Chief Operating Officer, to oversee our day to day operations. Graciously, he has contributed unpaid– something we aim to change this year. Together, they led teams of volunteers who have helped find jobs for 158 veteran translators, furnished the homes of 274 families, and found emergency housing for 15 families within 48 hours of being notified. Additionally, each of these 352 veterans and their families now have an American mentor they can call in a time of need. In short, thanks to your support, you helped us resettle 1,335 people last year - 352 veteran translators and their families. For that, you have our profound and eternal thanks.
But our work is not done. 35,000+ people still remain abroad awaiting life saving visas. When they arrive in the US, they will find we are the only organization dedicated to exclusively assisting them. For every family we can assist, we have to turn another nine away. Our chapters are inundated daily with requests for assistance - both from translators still abroad and thousands already in the United States.
We're only successful because of your generous support and we need your help now more than ever. Our goal is to answer the promise made to all of these veterans. Help us keep our promise to these veterans and please commit to giving again this year. Every $15,000 we raise can save an entire family. Please double what you gave last year. Yes, that's a huge ask. But, if you commit now you will ensure we will save an additional 2,670 people's lives this year.
If 2015 is any indication, 2016 will be a year of profound growth and truly lifesaving impact. Within the next three months, we'll open our 9th and 10th chapters - Houston and Philadelphia, respectively. But we don't want to stop with chapters 9 and 10. We want to operate in as many cities as it takes to properly immigrate and resettle these veteran translators and their families. And, I am confident that we're going to meet that demand, because you will meet our call to aid.
Please commit to helping us save another 2,670 lives this year and to help America keep its promise.
