When Bloomsbury asked whether I would like to write a (4th!!) book about hedgehogs I was tempted to say no ... what more could I add to A Prickly Affair (that was fun and full of the strangeness of obsession), Hedgehogs (about their iconography) and The Hedgehog Book (lots of lovely photos) ...

But I knew that if I said no, they would ask who I could recommend and then I would feel jealous! So - I said yes and have dived in - and I can't wait to see the physical thing (I should get a copy soon).

This book is the launch of a new series of accessible natural history books that Bloomsbury is doing with the RSPB - full of facts, a few tangents and stories, and some gorgeous line drawings - and it is released into the wild on 11th June ... if you are in the Oxford area, I can also invite you to a launch event in the wonderful world of Caper Books! 

I am always excited at the launch of a new book - this will be my 10th! But, something unusual has happened - a book I wrote ages ago, that was supposed to be out in September last year, is now launching into life on ... 11th June!!! Completely coincidence, different publishers ... but the book on Bats I worked so hard on is now about to fly free!

Both Graffeg and Bloomsbury have agreed to work together to help these books into life - after all, they are both nocturnal, insectivorous, and hibernating mammals! So - if you know anyone who might like a bit of the night on their bookshelf ... these are the presents!

Right, now to order some wine for the launch and get on with writing my 12th book ... more on that at a later stage!!
