Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Hedgehog Help Prestatyn - I had been booked in to do a talk to the Clwyd Hardy Plants Society and got a message from Tracy inviting me for a cup of tea (and cake ... she knows my weak spot!)
I got to Prestatyn early, deliberately, because I needed a blast of sea air - do you ever get that almost claustrophobic feeling when being away from the sea for too long? And I was blessed with the most magical of sunsets on what had been a really grey day ... I was going to use that photo for this update but then Tracy introduced me to this beauty ... a leucistic, not albino, hedgehog. You can tell by the eyes not being pink.
Tracy runs a small operation, but very efficient and also VERY good on outreach into the community. Not just with an amazing band of volunteers (who all came to my talk!) but also with the mundane but vital business of litter picking and hole encouragement. It was a wonderful reminder of the amazing people who undertake such a massive commitment to our lovely prickly friends!

And while you are at it, don't forget the competition for the very best designed hedgehog holes!! Come on - let's get those ideas coming in!
The Facebook Group has an amnesty on people promoting things, hedgehog related, for sale - not the mass produced stuff from supermarkets, but maybe craft projects you have been involved with ... or ... and I can hear the green crayons being sharpened already ... even books ... It is approaching Christmas. I would love you to buy my books - from your local book shop if possible, but if not, the evil tax dodgers will have to do. Me posting them out is just too expensive, but if you would like a signed book plate, please send me an SAE with instructions as to whom you would like it written to.
