I have tried to catch significant moments in this petition's life - with a screen grab. So when I saw we were approaching two thirds of a million strong I was keen to catch 666,666  - clearly the 'number of the hedgehog' ... but it happened while I was asleep. Anyway - we are there - next stop one million ... so PLEASE ... if you have not shared the petition for a while (or ever) send it to your friends.

The reason I want to keep this moving is that I am waiting for a response from the Secretary of State for Housing, Robert Jenrick, to a request from my lovely MP, Anneliese Dodds, for a meeting. I am also going to be pushing at DEFRA to see if we can get ways to enforce the guidelines that were announced last summer.

So far we have Bovis doing it - without legislation - and I have been having some interesting conversations with Berkeley Homes. But we need all developers signed up to the Hedgehog Highway plan ... and then ... well, I hope to work on them all to start to consider hedgehogs from the very beginning of any work. To ensure that, or example, the land clearance before construction is done with hedgehogs in mind. If you are all happy - I want to continue to campaign on this until there has been a completely wildlife-centred revolution in the way developers operate.

And in the meantime ... something a little different. The good folk at Hedgehog Street have been working on their App ... it seems that most of the people wanting to connect with the campaign have been doing so via their portable devices, rather than from a computer. And an App will make this process all the easier. Here is a link to the options for downloading.

I noticed that there are almost 10x as many signatories to the petition than there are Hedgehog Heroes on the Hedgehog Street site ... I wonder if you could share the love a little and join up? It is free and it is another lovely online community of people who love hedgehogs. In fact there are over 100x as many signatories as there are members of the Facebook Group I manage ... thank goodness! Not sure I could cope with many more!!!

Keep up the good work - keep sharing - and now is the time to prepare your garden for the spring and the waking of our wonderful prickly friends ... more on how we can do that soon.
