Well, in an unexpected turn of events today I managed to grab a 'walk and talk' with Michael Gove at the Oxford Real Farming Conference (not to be confused with the Oxford Farming Conference!)
It was principally to warn him of the approaching HALF A MILLION signatures - that you have all so wonderfully contributed to - arriving on his and his colleague Kit Malthouse's doorstep ... I think he was slightly amused at the idea of a comment about hedgehogs in among the detailed debate on Brexit related chaos - and that is why hedgehogs are just so important.
Hedgehogs are the perfect 'bridge' to cross almost any gap. As most people love them they are immediately less on guard, and more likely to pay attention. And he did.
But he went one step further - he said, after I had introduced myself - 'didn't you send me a book last year ... Landlines was it?' ... now whatever you may think of him (comments will follow I am sure) - that was quite impressive. I had to correct him - Linescapes was the title (oh, and sorry if the link offends some of you out there, but I have a living to make as well!) - but I was impressed.
The reason I was there was as the conference photographer - if you want a look at the lovely people who populated the conference, here is a very much growing page of pictures.
More soon - will be working out a date to deliver the petition ... and hopefully reaching that next target ... so please keep sharing!
