How angry should we be? Hedgehog populations down by possibly as much as 95% since the 1950s; we have lost 300,000km of hedgerow; 97% of wildflower meadows. The Living Planet Report, published last week, shows that we have experienced a 60% reduction in the amount of vertebrate wildlife on the planet in just the last 40 years.

I think we should be pretty damn angry. This short film about the Extinction Rebellion launch event gives a clear way for us to express our legitimate anger.

I would be fascinated to know whether any of you are thinking of going to the protest in London on Saturday 17th November - frustratingly I cannot as I am already booked into the wonderful New Networks for Nature. But many of my friends will be there.

How do you feel about Civil Disobedience in general? Do you think that Nonviolent protest is ever justifiable? How far would you go to try and stop the continued destruction of the species we love?

Many years ago I helped make a film for the Quakers that addresses many of the common questions people have about protest - it is 30 minutes long and is not captioned, but I still think it is worth a watch - Nonviolence for a Change.

The petition has made a sudden leap forward - so THANK YOU to all who have continued to share ... it makes a difference. I have my first meeting with an MP to talk about hedgehog holes and highways next week ... WE are making progress.
