Some of the classes Taira has taken to better herself. She has also taken a Microsoft Office class and the NCRC class(National Career Readiness Certificate). She has also gotten her GED while in prison and signed up for many other classes but can not get entrance to them because she is said to be too far from parole date. Personally, I find this a tragedy because Taira would take any class that would make her more ready to join society. The prison will now be offering a culinary class as well as a cosmetology class that she has signed up in hopes of entering. Also, on a random note but also showing the excessiveness of her sentence, I was watching a show tonight regarding the likes of Carlos Lehder(crazy Carlos from the movie Blow with Johnny Depp) and Cristopher Coke, who are both international kingpins who were part of murderous drug organizations and Carlos is out of prison in less than 30 years later now living free in Germany and Coke will be released in 2030 about 19-20 years after originally being imprisoned. Seeing these sentences leaves me in awe knowing they served likely less time than Taira unless one of her appeals is successful. Also, Taira wanted me to update everyone and let you all know she is doing alright all things considered. She’s keeping her head up and maintains a healthy relationship with her children. We are now happily married and have a great relationship. We can’t wait for the day she gets to walk out!
