I posted an image with pages from different parts of a study showing how ineffective long sentences are and that they rarely deter crime, cost the states excessive amounts of money for long periods of time and have little to no effect on rehabilitation and most of the times have a negative effect. I’ll post the link to the entire study here as well as the page to The Sentencing Project which aims to revise laws on excessive sentences.
