My name is Ellis Tansley and my family and I have lived in Kimberley for 26 years. For the last 18 years, I have also volunteered for the 2nd Kimberley Scouts. As part of that work, I am part of the team that runs Kettlebrook Lodge, the local Scout building and Social Hub (just off Eastwood Road, opposite Hall Om Wong park and just before Kimberley Caravan Centre).
Broxtowe Borough Council are currently consulting on their 'Local Plan Part 2' (you can find it online here: http://bit.ly/2yaSFrt ). This shows where the Council plans to build in the future. The documents linked to their plan talk about the Council trying to acquire the land that Kettlebrook Lodge is built on, to make way for a gateway to a housing development (page 7 here: http://bit.ly/2lmHcyX ). We must oppose this.
Kettlebrook Lodge is used widely by hundreds of Kimberley residents. We hold Scouting and Guiding meetings there, keep fit classes, Women's Institute meetings, playgroup, children's birthday parties, and many other community events. To lose this much loved and well used community asset would be devastating for families across Kimberley.
We need to club together to protect our much loved community hub and ensure that it isn't considered for demolition. Let's show that the voice of Kimberley residents counts. Please, help us save Kettlebrook Lodge.
