Included in the above photo are the Councillors responsible for making the decision to approve the JC Campbell planning application on Narnia's door step. Their decision was made contrary to the recommendations of the Council's own planning officer and was based on misleading information, of which they had been informed prior to making their decision. Most importantly, the decision was made without a second thought given to the views of the local and wider community. The very communities who placed their trust in these 12 individuals and granted them the authority to make decisions on their behalf when they voted them into their positions in 2014. When campaign posters start to dot the landscape of Newry, Mourne and Down in the build up to the 2019 local government elections, please think back to the reason why each of these faces appear so familiar and consider whose interests these Councillors are really representing when placing your vote.
