Last week I went to paris with the BBC to investigate how France managed to persuade MPs to pass a bill to protect models from becoming dangerously thin, and to talk to people in the industry about what they thought of the move. I met with former model Victoire Dauxerre, fashion editor Alice Pfeiffer and saw a Haute Couture catwalk show to see the state of models for myself. I enjoyed designer Julien Fournie’s Haute Couture show and while the clothes were beautiful, many of the girls looked painfully thin. Both Victoire and Alice told me they don't think the new laws will work. Alice believes that until the whole world makes a step forward to change together that no one country can make a change without the support of others. Former model, Victoire, has written a book about her experience in the fashion industry. She was badly mistreated by her agency, and was driven to anorexia before realising what she was doing to her body just for fashion.
