Dear Supporters, An important bill is going through parliament on Friday 3rd November. If it becomes law, it will limit the use of some of the most dangerous forms of restraint in Mental Health hospitals. It is being referred to as 'Seni’s Law', named after a young man called Seni who was tragically killed in a mental health unit due to being physically restrained. If it becomes law, it will limit the use of some of the most dangerous forms of restraint in Mental Health hospitals. As Matthew's parents, we believe that the use of dangerous restraint in Mental Health Hospitals must end. This is because our son was routinely face-down restrained by up to six adults to administer anti-psychotic medication. Prone restraint is the technique most commonly associated with deaths and we believe that its use in Mental Health Hospitals cannot never be justified. This is because Matthew, from the moment he left hospital, was no longer restrained, no longer contained, no longer secluded, no longer forcibly injected with anti-psychotic medication. Instead, Matthew is out in the community every day, living a fulfilling life. He is safe, happy and learning. And most significantly of all , he is no longer prescribed any anti-psychotic medication at all. If you are a UK citizen, you can stop this dangerous practice happening to another vulnerable person with autism and / or learning difficulties. Please ask your MP to vote for Seni's Law on the 3rd November. It only takes a few clicks, but it could be the most important thing you do today. With deep thanks and best wishes, Isabelle and Robin
