Ian Sharp started this petition

My son Matty was diagnosed with Leukaemia aged 19. After a long, hard battle, Matty passed away when he was just 25 years old. We adored Matty, and cared for him but heartbreakingly for us we didn’t really understand what he was going through, so for much of the time he felt isolated and alone.

That was until he met Teens Unite, a charity that brings together young people who are fighting cancer, and all that goes with the fight. Through their activities, Matty and the young people he met, found friends who really understood. Together with the Charity they do things that help them rediscover their confidence, and in many cases, but sadly not all, start to rebuild their lives.

The charity is trying to build a very special House on land in Goff’s Oak, where they will be able to help more young people. It will be a house where they can go for short stays and do all the activities Teens Unite offers.

I set this petition up as Broxbourne Council have rejected the plans which would have brought the House of Teens Unite to their Borough.

I need your help to show them how much this retreat is needed by young people who are currently suffering alone, like Matty did before he met Teens Unite. The house will be the first of its kind in England, and something they should be proud to have in the Borough of Broxbourne.

Since Matty  passed away, I’ve dedicated a lot of time to fundraising for Teens Unite’s retreat so that a room can be named after him. As a local family, it will mean so much to see his memory alive in the home of a charity so special to us and know that the thousands of kids just like Matty  will have somewhere they can find help.

Without our support the house might not happen at all. Please sign for Matty  and all of the young people who need this support.
