Sumter County V. Landfill Case Update. We're up to 2,827 Signatures so far. Let's DOUBLE it!

Hello neighbor! It's been awhile since we've updated but the fight continues and we have now reached 2,827 signatures on this petition. We could not have come this far without all of your support and continued chatter about the Heart of Florida Landfill and the proposed injection well.
Recently, Sumter County Board of Commissioners advised the county attorney to file a complaint for injunctive relief against the Heart of Florida landfill citing public nuisance odors and various compliance issues and documented complaints against their operating practices. This is a major step in our fight against them! Without the continued work from our local residents and support from surrounding counties, this likely wouldn't have happened.
Now, we must keep this momentum going and continue to work to stop the Class I Injection well. The landfill cannot be trusted to protect our water source if they are currently out of compliance in so many other ways.
Would you help us keep the momentum going by sharing? Posting to Facebook groups, Instagram stories, WhatsApp, or sending it directly via text or email all make a big difference.
As a community, we are so grateful for the support. We'd love to see you at the next Sumter County BOCC meeting Tuesday, October 13th @ 6pm at the Gloria Rowe Hayward Sumter County Service Center, Board Meeting Room 215 Gloria Rowe Hayward Way Sumterville, FL 33585. Please wear black and come sit in solidarity with the community to show your support.
