Join the "Kidical Mass" Bike Ride to Make Grand Grand!
With power in numbers, parents can bring their kids of any age out to ride around Oakland’s crown jewel, Lake Merritt, in a large, supported, safe ride this Saturday, May 11th, at 11AM. The Kidical Mass ride will take off from the Lake Merritt BART station and ride a great circle around the Lake!
The ride is a great way for young and grown alike to enjoy a day of joy and community while we show the broader Oakland community that our streets can and should be safe for all ages. Many adult volunteers will lead and shelter the riders, so that no matter whether your kids ride with you, or they ride their own bikes, everyone can participate safely.
Please come out to ride with us!
If you don’t have kids, you can still volunteer to support the ride. We need folks to help manage the flow of the ride. If you have experience with this, please contact Marc Hedlund at marc@precipice.org.
Our Fun has a Serious Side, too
Nothing heavy, but we need your help! The city is re-designing Grand avenue through the Adams Point area along the north side of the Lake--- urge the city to make Grand safer for people of all ages and abilities. Grand is currently a “high-injury corridor” and it needs to be easier and safer to cross the street and bike along it. Please add your voice by signing the petition here.
Grand Avenue can be truly grand, extending the spirit of the Lake as a place for all Oaklanders to enjoy, if the city makes it safe enough for all Oaklanders to enjoy.
Thank you for being part of our beautiful Oakland community, and for wanting to make Oakland better for everyone!
