Last week, I reached out to the Parks and Recs department and had a conversation about lights and the skatepark in general.

First off, the city is excited to hear how much the community loves and uses the skate park. It has been an investment that has been planned for years and they are thrilled to see it being put to good use nearly everyday.

For the lighting - as mentioned before, conduit had been laid during construction to add lights. Even though lights weren't part of the original bid, if there were savings during the build, there was an effort to have them installed. They are currently looking into savings on other ongoing projects to make a plan to add lights.

This will definitely not be within the coming months, but the wishful thinking of everyone involved is before the holidays next year. This was more hopeful news than I was expecting!

The city hears us and sees the need for lights. Budgeting is always the main constraint, but there is an effort to funnel savings from other projects back to the skatepark.

I was told I would be made aware of updates regarding the skatepark and the lighting situation, which I will happily pass along to everyone.
