ON THURSDAY we held a vigil outside Downing Street. It was a really moving event, with about 60 people out in the cold to lend strength to Alaa's mother. She spoke to the crowd, as did the directors of Reporters Without Borders, English PEN and the actor, Khalid Abdalla. There were candles, there were carols. There are some photos of it up here.

ON FRIDAY we were outside the Foreign Office from 10am to 11am for Laila's daily stand. Lots of MPs have come over to see her and offer their support, including Ellie Chowns, Zara Sultana, Kim Johnson, Brian Leishman, Brendan O'Hara

CHRISTMAS Cards to Keir Starmer No. 6: Adam Godley has just gone live.
