Good afternoon, Coop's Troops!
As you know by now, former Atlanta Braves outfielder Gary Cooper has been opening up about his decades-long struggle to obtain a pension from the Major League Baseball Players Association. Incredibly, he is just one day shy of qualifying.
Plus, one of his games was rained out, and they never made it up!
Gary Cooper's GoFundMe, which I'm coordinating with his niece Emefa Purvis, of Savannah, Georgia, has reached an amazing $9,800, and we're getting closer to our goal!
If you're able, please help us reach our next milestone of $10,000 and help Mr. Cooper get back on his feet.
By going public, Coop is helping to shed light on MLB’s controversial pension issues, going to bat for other former ballplayers who don’t receive any retirement benefits from what is arguably the wealthiest labor union in America.
In his most recent interview, Coop joined the Detroit-based "Knee Jerks" podcast to discuss these issues and more.
In the coming weeks, ABC News is planning do a special on Coop and his MLB brethren, so stay tuned for more news this summer.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU for your incredible support! And thank you for being one of Coop's Troops!
Coop needs our support now more than ever.
Sincerely,
Robert Jonas
