The Houthis are now narrowing their targets at Southern secessionists.

Brief History of Yemen:

  1. An Involuntary Union-  In 1990, North Yemen and South Yemen were unified as one, while people never wanted to be unified.
  2. Ali Abdullah Saleh became the President of the now unified Yemen (formerly recognized as the president of North Yemen).
  3. In 1994, a civil war broke out amongst northerners and southerners.
  4. In late 2014 and early 2015 the Houthis took over Yemen and exiled current President Hadi to Saudi Arabia.
  5. Regional powers get involved (Saudi Arabia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates). Saudi Arabia and the UAE are fighting the Houthis and Iran is helping the Houthis.
  6. The Southern secessionists are domestic key players of Yemen's "Civil War" and are backed by the UAE.
