The Houthis are now narrowing their targets at Southern secessionists.
Brief History of Yemen:
- An Involuntary Union- In 1990, North Yemen and South Yemen were unified as one, while people never wanted to be unified.
- Ali Abdullah Saleh became the President of the now unified Yemen (formerly recognized as the president of North Yemen).
- In 1994, a civil war broke out amongst northerners and southerners.
- In late 2014 and early 2015 the Houthis took over Yemen and exiled current President Hadi to Saudi Arabia.
- Regional powers get involved (Saudi Arabia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates). Saudi Arabia and the UAE are fighting the Houthis and Iran is helping the Houthis.
- The Southern secessionists are domestic key players of Yemen's "Civil War" and are backed by the UAE.
