As temperatures continue to rise across Virginia, concerns about the health and safety of incarcerated individuals are becoming more urgent. Many correctional institutions throughout the state are facing ongoing challenges related to extreme heat, aging infrastructure, overcrowding, and limited cooling resources.
Michael Swick has worked hard during his incarceration and has demonstrated his commitment to becoming a productive member of society. Keeping him confined under increasingly difficult and potentially dangerous conditions serves little purpose when he has family, friends, and a support system ready to help him successfully transition back into the community.
The extreme summer temperatures place additional physical and emotional stress on those housed in correctional facilities. Every person deserves to be treated with dignity and humanity, regardless of their circumstances. Michael’s continued incarceration during these worsening conditions raises serious concerns for his well-being.
We respectfully ask supporters to continue advocating for Michael’s release and to consider the impact that these harsh institutional conditions have on incarcerated individuals. Michael deserves the opportunity to return home to his loved ones, rebuild his life, and contribute positively to his community.
Now more than ever, we ask for your support in bringing Michael home.
