As spring approaches and temperatures rise, the men, including Michael, are now enduring extreme heat. The institution has turned up the heat to the maximum, and with the outside temperature being very high for this season, these men are at serious risk of heat strokes. It’s heartbreaking that the DOC shows such a lack of compassion—during dead winter, there was no heat, and now, as it warms outside, the heat remains cranked up. We must stand up for our loved ones and demand better treatment. It’s unfair, especially when we all know that concrete temperatures can become even hotter. This is yet another reminder of how inhumane the DOC can be, both in the coldest winter days and now, in the heat. We need to advocate for those who are suffering and ensure they are cared for with dignity.
