Michael was taken to medical due to dangerously high blood pressure that reached 220/180. Michael headset in Medical for 2 1/2 months He wasn’t taken to the hospital and was receiving medication, but his blood pressure did not improve. Medical staff checked his readings multiple times, trying to find a manageable number. On several occasions, Michael had to be taken out by ambulance because his blood pressure was life-threatening. The emergency room sent him back quickly, saying there was nothing more they could do given the severity of his condition. In Virginia, they told us the facility where he was treated is among the best in the state, yet nothing could be done for his condition. The nurse practitioner mentioned that her previous employer would have kept him there until the problem was identified. Michael also fell and injured his head, and there was concern he overdosed; however, tests showed he was not on any drugs and had passed out from his high blood pressure. It’s heartbreaking to see that the institution shows no concern for its inmates’ health. Despite being given medication, Michael’s condition didn’t improve. He was transferred to another facility, where he has not received any medication and has only been seen by medical staff once, as he is currently in solitary confinement. My greatest fear is that my brother may lose his life in this prison due to neglect, with one issue leading to another. I am reaching out to anyone who can help—sometimes, it just takes one share or one signature.
