It has been about 2.5 months since my brother was placed on lockdown in a correctional facility. Although there have been some recent improvements, such as more frequent showers and limited interaction with family through emails or calls, the overall living conditions in the facility remain extremely challenging and unnecessary for him and the other inmates. The continued isolation and restricted movement are having a severe impact on their mental and emotional well-being, which is deeply concerning.
Moreover, it's distressing to note that they are not receiving the required amount of food to survive, and there are reports of floods in the cells and mold growing, creating entirely inhumane conditions.
Additionally, during this prolonged lockdown, there have been tragic incidents involving several inmates who have lost their lives due to drug overdoses. The fact that individuals are gaining access to drugs while under strict confinement raises serious questions about the security and management of the facility. A thorough investigation must be conducted to uncover the truth, including the possibility of guards being involved in enabling this issue.
