Hello everyone!
Firstly I must apologise for our lack of updates, we tried to keep up to date when we first started but as you can imagine as Alfie's campaign has got bigger so has the responsibility of managing it all. We rely purely on friends and volunteers for Alfies cause and a lot of these kind and wonderful souls offering their time have families of their own so its a very busy and time consuming process.
I am still very much a part of Alfies campaign but I have stepped down from leading to allow other members a chance to plough their ideas forward into fundraising.
Things were for a time appearing to go smoothly for Alfie and we were steadily fundraising with a new found hope that his health was appearing stable. Sadly after a routine scan earlier in the year our worst fears were confirmed when Alfie had a lump removed on the 9th July 2019 and on the 25th of that month it was confirmed that Alfie had relapsed for the third time. As you can imagine this has been devastating for his family, friends and supporters.
Alfie however as always battles on in a way I can’t even explain. He faces these times still with a courage that can only make us proud. This year he turned 17 yet it feels like only yesterday I was organising his 16th birthday card appeal. He passed his driving test last week and is also attending college. His is an inspiring young man that even facing this life with cancer always present he doesn’t allow it to prevent him doing what he wants to do.
Yesterday he went to the hospital and he needs to have a few more tests done before he can be accepted on a trial for beating this nasty disease.
The first part of the trial will be Mibg therapy he will have two courses over 4 weeks. So week 1 will be Mibg week 2 will be home leave week 3 more Mibg therapy and week 4 will be home rest. He may need to have stem cells retuned after that.. then about week 6 he will be admitted to Southampton for a 10 day infusion of antibodies....
We are as always still fundraising for Alfie and below is the link for his just giving. You will notice we are on a whopping £161,400.85 ! Which is incredible!
Thank you for still following and supporting us!
It means the world to us and the comments you leave for Alfie have most of us in tears because they mean so much.
