In March of 2019, Heineken USA announced Lagunitas Brewing Company would begin brewing the famous Newcastle Brown Ale under a new "reimagined" recipe...which is completely different from the original. This is an absolute tragedy and shows a complete lack of respect for this famous British icon, which has existed almost unchanged for over 90 years. It is a recipe that does not need reimagining, let alone from a company like Lagunitas, which is famous for its IPAs...the complete opposite of what Newcastle is or should be. Heineken needs to correct this mistake, and authorize Newcastle to be brewed by a company that will honor the almost 100 year old beer by following the original recipe like Zoeterwoude Brewery did.
