Heart Disease is More Deadly than Cancer — It's Time for Action
The Issue
I was 33. Associate Director at a “Big Four” company. New father to a three-month-old son.
By all standards, life was going well. I stayed active—walking, yoga, running, and cycling. Ate a vegetarian and balanced diet. Happy in my marriage. And I never saw it coming.
The deadlines, the workload, and family commitments hid my usual fatigue, dizziness, bloating, uneasiness, and frequent headaches.
Then came 16 December 2019—a dark Monday morning—when I collapsed at my office with a massive heart attack.
I had suffered a “widow-maker” heart attack, with only a 1 in 10 survival rate.
I was immediately thrombolysed and implanted with two stents.
Later, we learned I had triple vessel disease—all three major arteries were severely blocked, and the biggest one—the LAD—was 100% blocked.
The body had whispered its subtle warnings—fatigue, dizziness, breathlessness—but I was too busy to listen. Too busy chasing deadlines to notice death lurking quietly beneath the skin.
This is a plea. A protest. A promise.
Sign the petition. Let no young heart collapse in silence.
Because survival should never be a stroke of luck.

Heart disease is the world’s number one killer.
More deadly than cancer, it claims around 20 million lives a year and is the reason that 1 in 5 of us will die early.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Medication to reduce high blood pressure - a major risk factor for heart disease - saves lives by preventing heart attacks, heart failure, and strokes.
But 4 in 5 people are not getting the treatment they need to control their blood pressure.
It’s time for urgent action.
That’s why we’re calling on Governments to act now and commit to helping some 500 million more people get the treatment they need by 2030.
There’s no time to lose. In the 30 seconds it may have taken you to read this, 20 more lives have been lost. It could be you or someone you love next.
SIGN our petition to call for better treatment TODAY and stop needless deaths.
