LDAA receives update from Health Minister via Senator Nash SENATOR NASH – The Minister for Health has provided the following answers to the Honourable Senator's questions: (1)-(4) The Government response to the report on the growing evidence of an emerging tick-borne disease that causes a lyme-like illness for many Australian patients, is currently under consideration by my Department and a response will be tabled in due course. (5) Professor Brendan Murphy, the Australian Government Chief Medical Officer, is the Australian Government Department of Health’s key representative. Professor Murphy will receive policy support from officials within the department. My Department puts the welfare and health of patients first and foremost. My Department has made information about tick bite prevention and first aid available to the Australian public.
