In the absence of clear guidelines and institution specific Re-KYC Norms, the process will remain complicated .
In the name of Re- KYC banks have been given unlimited power to harass customers by demanding personal information more than necessary. This power is being misused by each staff at banks who see it as an opportunity to bully customers. For that reason , there should be clear guidelines and only a few people at the bank should be allowed to handle Re-KYC process of customers instead of allowing everyone there to have free access to personal documents of customers.
Because of so many people involved in a single customer's Re-KYC process, the KYC of customers is getting much delayed ! Even after providing relevant documents repeatedly, HDFC bank takes several months to complete the Re-KYC process of customers. In my case , its already been almost 5 months now and still the status of the Re-KYC does not reflect as " updated" on their system despite them saying that it is completed . This could be deliberately done so as to have a reason to limit bank services or freeze an account.
