Greetings Everyone! Thanks again for taking action to attempt to get the Hawaii legislature to legally recognize our right to self-defense outside our homes.
The number of signers almost doubled after I emailed all those who submitted testimony opposing an anti-rights bill (HB2632) currently in process in the legislature. Somehow the legislature seems motivated to hold hearings for the bills that further restrict our rights, but not for those bills that legally recognize our rights. Go figure.
Sorry about posting another update so soon after the previous one, but I received a suggestion: contact the Senate and House leadership and ask them to have the various committee chairpersons to hold hearings on the CCW-related bills.
I have not heard anything at all from all the committee chairs that I emailed asking for hearings, not even an acknowledgement that they received my email. Go figure.
If you'd be willing to email/call/fax the two leaders (one of each body), it might help. It couldn't hurt (I don't think.) Here is the contact info, the bills involved on each side, and a sample email for each:

If you are interested in the bills themselves, here is a brief summary, along with the url for each bill, which has a link to the actual full text of each bill. Note that if the latest entry is from December of 2015 and states "carried over" it means that the bill was introduced in 2015 and no action was taken, and no hearing has been scheduled again this year.
