Have Carleton University show transparency in their recent course delivery decision.

Have Carleton University show transparency in their recent course delivery decision.
The Issue
Carleton University has announced that almost all previously scheduled in-person courses for the Winter 2022 semester will now be moved online. Their reason given was in order to remain compliant with Ottawa Public Health (OPH) recommendations for physical distancing in instructional spaces. However, no such recommendations exist from OPH as post-secondary institutions are overseen by the Ontario Government with respect to COVID-19 protocols. In a memo dated 1st Sept 2021 to all universities in Ontario, the government announced that physical distancing and capacity limits should be lifted, so long as there is a vaccine policy in place for students. Yet Carleton University refuses to acknowledge this and continues to hide behind non-existent public health guidelines in an attempt to maintain online education. While most other universities in Ontario prepare to fully reopen for Winter 2022, Carleton remains stuck in time and in constant denial of the (thankfully) rapidly improving COVID-19 situation. We ask that Carleton listen to their student population and do the right thing: open the university and allow students to partake of the benefits of in-person education. If this is truly not possible, then paying students deserve a detailed explanation outlining the factual basis and necessity for continuing online.
