Dear colleagues,

I got so depressed at the end of last year when the UK declared, finally, to leave the EU.  But has COVID changed all that?  I am convinced that Boris Johnson, our wayward Prime Minister, deepdown only backed BREXIT to get his thing done i.e. become Prime Minister.  Helped by extraordinairly week opposition hardly led by Jeremy Corbyn - remember him?

Now does he, and Parliament, really want to hit the UK economy hard with a double whammy - COVID and BREXIT?.  He would be foolish as argued persuasively in the Observer on Sunday May 3rd - see https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/apr/26/the-observer-view-on-the-danger-posed-by-brexit-during-our-greatest-vulnerability

There the Observer editorial team state "The transition must be extended… even Boris Johnson knows that, although he won’t admit it".
