The confusion over #BREXIT continues to shake Britain and drive people to the pub and away from all the noise. The local elections of May 3 showed a big win for the Lib Dems, although turnout is usually low in these elections..around one in three.
So what does this mean for BREXIT? Hopefully that the tide has turned and both major party platforms (if you can guess what their messages are) have failed. Essentially, May wishes to leave and Corbyn wishes to lead but is too confused to come down on one side or the other.
Leavers continue to believe leaving will be great for the UK without giving the slightest indication of what exactly? Maybe they want Northern Ireland to join Ireland, Scotland to become independent, fishing to become England's major export from around 0.3% of GDP to a whopping 0.6% or even more? Forget services - 70% of UK Balance of Payments - and concentrate on tariff trade with Trump. Then there is the Swiss solution (the Swiss hate it since they have no say in EU decisions about them), the Norway solution (each Norwegian through careful management of their oil fund is worth one million pounds each) etc etc..
I dont advocate another referendum - the tricks of Russia and the lies of Johnson and Farage all over again? No thanks. We are a democracy so let's behave like one - a free vote among MPs in Parliament on Leave or Remain. Maybe even a proper debate will ensue and maybe the Leaver's argument will be finally revealed for the fake it is. Forget a deal like the Swiss, why have a deal we have no control over No. Parliament it is folks!
