Having watched the Commons' ''debate'' last night was scary. Most MPs have realised that 'Leave' will be a disaster for the UK economy, many social programmes, educational exchange, scientific research, tourism UK to France and the UK's international reputation.
No-one, least of all May, mentions the meddling of the Russians via Farage, Arron and Cambridge Analytica (see https://www.nybooks.com/daily/2018/11/16/why-britain-needs-its-own-mueller/?wpisrc=nl_todayworld&wpmm=1 So even the trite line that Britain MUST accept a flawed referendum can be easily dismissed.
Then few MPs last night mentioned the need to STAY in the EU which is the easiest thing to do and then negotiate from within. Where is the Jeremy Corbyn saying that? No, all he wants is a better deal, refused by the EU and voted down by the Commons despite May's wilful delaying tactics.
How depressing to see my country in such turmoil when a steady hand is needed to combat the multiple international crises that seem to be growing by the day - trade tariffs, Ukraine, populism, racism, unsolved immigration issues, global warming, democracy, a USA mirroring Russian authoritarianism, gilet jaunes etc etc.
A second referendum is NOT needed. No doubt the Russians and other enemies would delight. Why take the risk? Let MPs have a free vote and be done with it. If Corbyn and May wish to drive Britain into "Leave" so be it. That is democracy. Then let these two figures take the weight of ruined dreams into the future. No Churchillian or Atlee statues for them as they slide into the dustbin of history.
Maybe, just maybe, Parliament will reject Article 50 and keep Britain safe and sane (along with Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland). Please spread far and wide this PETITION since our country needs to be rescued before it is too late.
