I am not an alarmist by nature and I have deep respect for Germany, Germans and their leaders from Brandt to Kohl to Merkel. Nothing can go wrong. As in the first flight, totally controlled by robots. Nothing can go wrong. The plane takes off and the in-flight briefing shouts 'welcome to the first ever pilotless flight where all is for you safety and nothing can go wrong, krrraaccckkkk...nothing can go wrong, can go wrong, can go wrong, can go wrong, can go wrong.... Our forefathers were worried enough that they formed the EU so that the strong nations, especially France and the UK, could forge peace with Germany then trade and live peacefully after the ravages of two dreadful and unnecessary World Wars. But, without the UK, Germany is now planning to greatly increase its defense on the Eastern part of Europe as Russia rattles its sabres and peace looks in jeopardy. Germany will save us I hear the cry? But are its expansionist tendencies in check? Will it invade a defense poor UK, suffering from a post BREXIT social and economic collapse and place its surplus Turkish and Syrian immigrants there? No! Of course not with Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn ably supported by Boris Johnson, Rees-Mogg, Nigel Farage....nothing can go wrong...can go wrong..can go wrong..can go wrong..can go wrong...
