Tony Blair...please dont turn off after reading his name..yes he made a huge mistake over Iraq, yes he was too cosy with George Bush Jr but NO he was often correct. As he is in his New Year message criticising Eurosceptic and old fashioned Marxist* (the latter my words) Jeremy Corbyn. His latest message for Labour for the New Year, reported in the Financial Times today, included the statement: “The issue is whether . . . we have the right to change our mind, whether the ‘will of the people’, this much abused phrase, is deemed immutable or is permitted to mutate as our perception of reality becomes better informed”. *PS Yes Marx was right about the exploitation of the working classes by the forces of capital, yes he would hate Trump but Marx didnt know about trade unions nor the forces of democracy and a free press...Marx spent much time in Europe and no doubt would have resisted BREXIT since Marx was many things, but certainly NOT stupid!
