This petition is asking Hastings District Council to STOP chlorinating the water supply in Hastings, a supply that serves Hastings, Flaxmere, Havelock North and surrounding suburbs. Since the middle of August 2016 Hastings' water supply has been chlorinated after an issue with unsafe water coming from a bore that supplies Havelock North. Public outcry in other parts of Hastings District has forced change: Te Awanga and Haumoana no longer have chlorinated water after their community said "NO!". Only 15% of New Zealand's drinking water remains unchlorinated, we want to stay in that beautiful minority. We do not want to wash in chlorinated water. We do not want to drink chlorinated water. We do not want to water our gardens with chlorinated water. Tell Hastings District Council the chlorine needs to GO.
