Hello friends! Thank you again for your support in January when over 100 of you signed my petition to encourage the City of Hastings, Minnesota to pass a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. It passed unanimously and Hastings became the FIRST city in all of Minnesota to pass such a resolution. At this writing, unfortunately, there is STILL no ceasefire and Netanyahu has indicated he will not only continue attacking Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank - but plans to expand his campaign of death north to Lebanon.
So, I have started another petition, and this one targets our pro-AIPAC Congresswoman Angie Craig, who "represents" the Second Congressional District of Minnesota (roughly the southern Twin Cities suburbs and points south and west). Angie Craig continues to support GOP-sponsored legislation to send billions of dollars in military aid to the Netanyahu regime for use in the War on Gaza and beyond. LINK TO PETITION
Luckily, she has an opponent in the August 13 Democratic primary this year. His name is Marc Ives and he is a teacher and passionately against the ongoing war and genocide in Gaza and the West Bank. His website is www.IvesforCongress.com. Any donations you can send Marc are greatly appreciated.
Below is the text for my petition - I would be humbled if you would sign this petition as well to send a clear message to Angie Craig and demand she stop sending billions of dollars worth of weapons to kill Palestinian civilians.
Thank you again!
Tom Bullington,
Hastings, Minnesota
I am a concerned citizen of Minnesota's Second Congressional District. My concern lies in the knowledge that my tax dollars are being used to support the death of innocent civilians in Gaza. This misuse of resources is a consequence of pro-war legislation that gives approval for American bombs and weapons to be dispatched and used by Israel.
According to the Council on Foreign Relations, the United States has been consistently providing Israel with considerable military aid, estimated annually at $3.8 billion since 2016. Tragically, 40,000 innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza have died since October 2023. Amnesty International has reported countless instances of civilians, including 10,000 children, being killed by airstrikes in residential areas. Also, UN reports highlight extensive destruction in Gaza, manifesting as leveled buildings and ruined infrastructure.
Congresswoman Angie Craig has the power to alter this dire scenario by voting against such legislation. We, as her constituents, have the right to express our disapproval of any role our district plays in driving this violent cycle of devastation by supporting military aggression.
For the sake of innocent lives, for the humane use of our resources, for preventing further needless devastation, we implore Congresswoman Angie Craig to use her power wisely and vote against pro-war legislation. Stand with us today to transform the course of our district from one that passively supports ruthless conflicts to one that advocates for peace and justice. Please sign this petition.
