The fight to stop this prestigious site being developed into a housing estate continues and is definitely not over yet. Despite no information or updates being received from HBC we are aware that contracts have still not been signed with the developers. We now have over 2000 signatures asking the council to engage with the community before entering into a contract which will ultimately result in this unique site being lost for public use. We have been asked to formally present the petition at the full council meeting on 14th December and hope that we can ask for genuine consideration be given to alternative opportunities for this publically owned space.

To raise the profile of this campaign both locally and nationally we are holding a virtual protest on the Old Bathing Pool Site on Saturday 5th December. Taking into account possible Covid restrictions there will be a visual installation of flags on the site to represent the number of people that have signed the petition. We are asking people to come down and show support, while being mindful of social distancing. We have organised a drone to take footage which will be sent to all local and national media outlets along with an article to voice the many concerns this proposal has raised.
