Petition update“ HANDS OFF OUR FRESH WATER “Harper's government is 6 years overdue for endangered species

has the Canadian government delayed recovery strategies for endangered species in order to green light big oil development?
Harper's government is 6 years overdue for proposing recovery plans for 163 of the 192 species deemed "at risk" in Canada, including the humpback whales that reside in coastal BC waters. This is against the law.
While the government did not contest the evidence, they denied that recovery strategies have been "intentionally delayed in order to facilitate industrial development." Funny, because according to court documents, "the absence of posted recovery strategies deprives the ministers of considerable leverage in dealing with the impact of industrial development on species at risk" and would therefore have a major impact on the approval of the Northern Gateway pipeline.
