A Big Win at the Planning Commission Meeting

A quick but heartfelt THANK YOU to all who showed up, spoke up, and stood together at the Garfield County Planning Commission hearing. The turnout was incredible—representing a wide cross-section of our county’s voices, values, and concerns.

The Planning Commission staff delivered a thoughtful and detailed review of the amendment application, and the commissioners engaged with professionalism and care. Even the applicant, facing significant public opposition, represented their position with respect and reason.

In the end, the Commission voted unanimously to recommend denial of the amendment—a strong validation of the Coalition’s efforts and a meaningful win for our community.

Next steps: We now wait to see whether the applicant will pursue a vote with the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) or choose to withdraw the application altogether. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we know more.
