Hi - as expected the Planning Committee recommended to approve the rezoning of Beck's land to commercial property. There are still some steps they need to legally follow to move to the next recommendation. 

A couple of us went and spoke with an attorney on Tuesday morning. The attorney thinks we might have a chance of having this rezoning stopped based on a couple of principals. Of course this will not be an inexpensive journey. It will be a minimum of about $10,000 to start and could cost up to $30,000 to fight this with of course there is no guarantee. If we can get enough people to help with the fees then it would have a lower financial impact on all of us that care to stop this rezoning. Remember - if this is rezoned and the campground falls through, it stays commercially zoned and anything can be placed there. Industrial park, slaughter house (like they did in Grand Marsh), etc.

We would like to have a private meeting in Big Flats at one of the local residence homes to discuss what we can do and dividing the financial burden.
