The hearing resulted in the bylaw 20931 and amendments for the new building project was approved. The online petition signatures were available and made public by the city clerk in a report which was made available in council correspondence at the public hearing.
The council decided with one opposed 1-12 by councillor Karen Prinicipe to approve the rezoning development for Virginia Park at the public hearing for bylaws, it took only 1 hour of debate by the city council and all members who were in favour heard from 2 residents on this issue and the president of the seminary. All speakers were considered and we thank the city for listening however we heard no questions how to make the campus a building of this size architecturally compatible according to the new district plan.

All speakers where hoping to pause this rezoning and the new information about our petition was provided to council members we did have on the agenda. The issues related to our community engagement and those residents who had spoken were in agreement to have communication and yet the council was informed by administration that it was because of the number of students which the Councilor Andrew Knack was misinformed about and we feel are adequate to stop this. We encountered the same reviews of this bylaw made by council itself in the early years of this community in the growth of Concordia University who would have been impacted if Virginia Park School had been sold to them in the past which was not the case and for the past 35 years it has stood the test of time but not today.
