Good Morning Citizens of the Clarkson and Lorne Park Community,

The Clarkson and Lorne Park Coalition of Concerned Citizens has been notified that the Committee of Adjustments for this proposed development has been set for: Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 1:00pm.

We have uploaded to a Google Drive the following:

  1. Template for Residents to use to email to the Committee of Adjustments (COA)
  2. Indwell’s full application to the City (including their 10 variances, urban planning report and their justification for why they should be granted approval to build)

What do we need you to do:

1) Option #1: Sign Up To Speak In Person at the COA:

  • We need as many concerned citizens, business owners and our community to sign up to attend in-person the COA meeting to voice community concerns
  • Refer to Google Drive (Above) for a template and all submitted documents to the Building Department (from Indwell)
  • Please detail that you would like to speak in person on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 1:00pm and you would like to be added to the list of attendees. Please also follow this up with a letter to the COA (Refer to the sample letter in the Google Drive)

2) Option #2: Email Your Concerns to the COA

  • If you are unable to attend in person, please email your concerns to the Committee of Adjustments. All emails will be read by the committee
  • Refer to Google Drive (Above) for a template and all submitted documents to the Building Department (from Indwell)

3) Donate To GoFundMe

  • We have organized an official GoFundMe for the Clarkson & Lorne Park Coalition of Concerned Citizens. Your contributions towards legal fees and other services and expenditures encountered to defend the safety and protection of the Clarkson Lorne Park community require your generous financial participation to continue a strong defense with government officials, and possible courts. While legal fees can easily mount if we all go about our concerns as individuals, our collective effort and participation establishes strength in the community and allows the community's Coalition to move forward with defending your rights to safety and protection as taxpayers, citizens, and residents/business owners of the Clarkson Lorne Park community.  Thank you for supporting a cause that will most certainly affect your daily living and business in the Clarkson Lorne Park community.

4) SPREAD THE WORD & SIGN UP FOR UPDATES

  • We really cannot stress this enough, due to the recently passed Bill C11, this is potentially the last option available for halting the development of this proposed project.
  • SEND THIS EMAIL to fellow neighbors, colleagues, and community members. Please do not assume people have registered or have seen this email. If in doubt – Send it.
  • SIGN UP FOR UPDATES: LPClarksonWard2@gmail.com

Please share this email with all neighbors, friends, and/or supporters of the Clarkson & Lorne Park Coalition of Concerned Citizens. Please do not assume people already know or have received this email...... they may not have.

Please email: LPClarksonWard2@gmail.com to be added to the update list.

The Clarkson and Lorne Park Coalition of Concerned Citizens is in no way against or do we oppose Affordable or Supportive Housing. We are also not against helping less fortunate or displaced people - everyone deserves a home and a place to live. However, this does not negate the safety concerns that have been raised, which have (despite repeated efforts) never been addressed as they relate to the proposed supportive housing ‘tenant mix’ (individuals with serious mentally illness and drug/alcohol addiction and substance abuse) at the proposed 1639 Lakeshore Road West location. The safety concerns of our children and community have never once been addressed and this should be a priority. Having these concerns go this long and not once being addressed is unacceptable.

We thank you again for your ongoing support.
