This petition was set up as a safe place for people to voice thier opinion on the proposed ban to Edinburgh cemetries.

This was not only so both sides of the story could be heard but because all too often when the topic is discussed on local Facebook pages people can become emotive and do not respect other's views.

Sadly this petition has received such comments including here on the actual petition - although they did sign which is helpful.

We ask if you disagree with this petition to please sign the actual petition for banning dogs and not post comments here. We would ask you to consider what we have actually written before leaving - we are pro respectful behaviour and against dog fouling, we do not want a retraction of the no lead rule. What we want is for people to be able to respectfully visit with their dogs for a number of valid reasons as laid out in the petition.

For those who this post is intended for please keep sharing and getting those signatures and report any behaviour that you feel is inappropriate.

For those who are looking at this petition and considering signing but feeling intimidated please please don't. You're feelings are understandable but also a good example of why this petition exists and should be signed. Please feel free to sign under a pseudonym (fake name) as this still adds weight to the petition and can be clearly seen why an alternative name might be used.

The writer of this petition (not to ban dogs in cemetried) has themself has used an alternative name to protect themself from abuse but still wants people to have a voice - please feel free to do the same.
